We will be back soon to show you the rest of this minibook and details on how you could get the supplies to make your very own!

Happy Scrapbooking Day!

Since it is National Scrapbooking Day, we had the perfect excuse to set aside some time this weekend to do what we love - SCRAPBOOK!  We just got back from a very fun event at our local craft store.  Are you a scrapper?  If so, then you probably understand why scrapbooking is more than just a hobby to us. There is something about getting together with a group of friends and reminiscing about all of the cherished memories you are trying to preserve. Now before we start sounding all serious - let it be known that one of our favorite things about scrapbooking is letting go, being silly, and laughing until our sides ache!  So to all our fellow scrappers - we hope you can make a little time for scrapbooking (and laughing) this weekend too!

Here's what we were working on...

Crystal's grandpa is turning 90 at the end of the month. After lots of organizing and SHOPPING - she finally got started. It's quite a task to scrapbook 90 years of life!  We will be sure to post some pictures of the end result.  What fun old pictures!
And here's a little sneak peak of something else we have been working on...

May's kit will be released very soon! Be sure to check back later this weekend as you wont
want to miss out on this fun little project!

Oh and as promised we have a special giveaway just for National Scrapbooking Day!

You could win our Coaster Mini-album kit!

Just post a comment to be entered in the drawing. Tell us why you like scrapbooking, what you are working on, or how you are celebrating National Scrapbooking Day! If you don't scrapbook then tell us what you do like to do.

The winner will be announced on Monday evening!

Happy Scrappin!

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle Part 2

Guess what we used to make this adorable mini book!

Give up?

TP rolls!

We have received a lot of feedback in the last couple days about what in the world we planned to create with those toliet paper rolls.  So what do you do with all those left over  rolls?! You make a mini-books out of them!  We had a lot of fun creating this mini-book.

It's the perfect size to give as a gift and your friends will never guess how you made it! (you will want to tell them though, since it is so cool!) Crystal made this book to show off some of her favorite sailing memories of 2009.

MATERIALS:
3 toliet paper rolls
3 - 5 x 7 inch sheets of paper
 hole punch and/or eyelet setter
ring to bind your book together
a strong adhesive (yep, we used Terrifically Tacky Tape, again!)
eyelets (optional)

HOW TO:
Step 1: fold the toliet paper rolls flat.
We used a bone folder to make a good fold that will keep the rolls flat.

Step 2: wrap a 5 x 7 inch sheet of paper around each roll and use a strong adhesive to hold it in place. You will need to center

A scrapbook makes a great gift and…a daunting task.

The answer? Mini Books!
There’s no need to spend tons of cha-ching to get a neat mini book.  Use things you have around the house!
Today we are happy to share a super easy and fun mini book made from playing cards.
Playing cards are so inexpensive.  They can easily be found at dollar stores, thrift stores, or the bottom of your game bin.

Coaster Mini Album

This is such a simple project! It was actually hard to write directions because they are so SIMPLE!

MATERIALS:

For this album we used actual coasters found at Rock Scissors Paper.  For other samples we've recycled thin cardboard (usually we're using the thin cardboard at the back of paper stacks).

Ring Binder (loose leaf) Clip

Paper, ribbon, photo's, embellies, buttons, etc. GO CRAZY!

We've even dabbled with square coasters, or mixing round and square.

HOW TO:

Cut your cardboard to 4 inch circles or squares (you may want to round the corners if using square)
Cover with paper, paint, etc.
Embellish the heck out of it,
Throw on some photos!

See...pretty easy!

Mini Book in Minutes

We LOVE mini books! In addition to being cute and little, it is nice to sit down for a short amount of time and complete a project. We thought we would share this mini book design with you that literally takes minutes to assemble. They are so easy you will be whipping up all sorts of them for yourself, friends, and family!

You start by taking a 12x12 piece of cardstock and cutting it into 3 - 4 by 12 inch strips.

Then cut one of the strips down to 4 by 8 inches. You will then fold the strips every 4 inches in the opposite direction as shown above.

Next you will use the 4 by 8 inch strip to attach the 2 - 4 by 12 inch strips.

Put adhesive on the small strip and line up the 2 large stips with the fold in the center.

You will then have one large strip that folds up into a 4 by 4 inch square.

If you would like to add a covers to your mini book you can cut 4 by 4 inch squares out of a tagboard. (for example: you could use the cover of a paper ream or even a cereal box!)

You will then have a mini book all ready to embellish.

For our mini book we used our Round and Round kit.

You can cut out 4 by 4 inch squares to adhere your favorite pattern paper on to each page.

We created a couple of slots to hold tags for journaling.

This mini book is perfect for a brag book for your purse or on your desk at work.

The holidays are right around the corner and this mini book could make a wonderful gift as well!

We had fun making a few of these mini books and hope you do too!
