Last Minute Cupcake Tower

Over the weekend we had Kelli's baby shower with family and friends.  We had been planning to have a special cake for her, but late last week the plans changed to cupcakes instead.  So, we decided to whip up a fun little tower to display the delicious cupcakes. We were actually kind of glad the plans changed to cupcakes because the display turned out super cute!

Here's how you can make a cupcake tower like ours...

Materials:
3 round cake plates in various sizes.
(plastic, cardboard, whatever you can find!)
5 - 12x12 sheets of coordinating patterned paper,
2 - 4 inch deep glass cylinder vases,
double sided mounting tape,
and clear adhesive.

How To:

Step 1: Use your cake plates to trace each size circle onto the patterned paper. You will be covering the top of each cake plate with patterned paper.

Step 2: Cut out the circles you have traced and adhere them to the tops of each cake plate.

Step 3: Cut your remaining patterned paper so that you can line the inside of your cylinder vases with the paper. We cut ours to slightly under 4 inches wide and put both of the 4 x 12 inch strips inside one vase.  (this way you can easily take the paper out of the vases when you are done and use them for another project!)

Step 4: Use double sided mounting tape to adhere the vases to the cake plates. We flipped the vases upside down and adhered the plates to the bottoms of the vases.

Step 5: Embellish and display your favorite cupcakes on your new cupcake tower! We made some homemade garland out of tissue paper to put around the bottom of our cupcake tower and added some fun toothpicks we designed!

We will be posting more of our baby shower projects this week - so be sure to stop back if you are looking for some party planning ideas!

Happy Craftin!
